The Department of Orchestral Conducting has been functioning since 1967. Among the founders of the department, from the first years of its existence, there were well-known figures of Kyrgyz culture and art.
Over the years of its existence, the department has developed a large team of teachers — highly qualified musicians, among whom there are already her pupils, who continue and develop the artistic, performing and methodological — pedagogical principles of their teachers. Graduates of universities from many cities also provided great assistance in the development of professional performance on the button accordion and accordion.
Well-known musicians in the republic successfully worked at the department — teachers with solid professional training and many years of experience in teaching, for example: B. V. Feferman, N. Training is conducted in special subjects «Conducting», «Special instrument — accordion — button accordion», «Komuz», «Kyl kyyak», «Domra-4 string» «Methods of teaching playing folk instruments», «Orchestral class», «Instrumentation for Orchestra of Folk Instruments”, “Reading Orchestral Scores”, “Voice Setting”, “Orchestral Literature”, “Instrumentation”. Along with training on musical instruments, much attention is paid to educational work, concert activities, which are the basis for the formation of highly qualified specialists.
The department actively conducts research, methodological work. In recent years, at the initiative of the department, scientific conferences have been held: “To the 100th anniversary of the composer V. Vlasov”, “To the 80th anniversary of the composer-conductor N. Davlesov, K. Moldobasanov”, “To the 70th anniversary of S. Toktakunova”, republican scale: “Zalkar obonchu — composer Zh. Sheraliev” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the composer, “To the 75th anniversary of R. Abdykadyrov”. A number of textbooks, anthologies, repertory collections, more than 20 scientific articles, transcriptions, methodological studies, which are used in the educational and concert practice of the educational institution, have been developed and published.
Graduates of the department are in demand and are employed in educational institutions, cultural institutions, music schools of our republic and outside the republic.
